Goddess A Runes Book eBook Ednah Walters Kelly Hashway

I need to fangirl here. Once again, Ednah Walters weaved a thrilling and captivating tale that was impossible to put down.

Goddess is the tenth book in the Runes Series set in Norse mythology. Usually, I’m not a fan of long series, but I will be crushed when this series is finished. I love each and every book and I want more!

The entire series, including Eirik’s trilogy of companion books, flow together extremely well and provide a detailed story that is completely interconnected.

Goddess picks up at the end of Eirik’s third book, Gods, and just after Witches, Runes Series book 6. Both Gods and Witches are on the same timeline.

This book continues the adventures of Cora and Echo and their group of Druids and Grimnirs.

Cora Jemison is a strong, beautiful, feisty, and loving girl from Oregon who has had her world turned upside-down by immortals. Instead of falling apart, Cora transformed herself into a confident medium, who allows souls to possess her to help them find closure. Her life was just settling into a comfortable pattern, when she decides to tell her parents the truth about seeing souls and that her fiancée is a reaper. Sparks fly, tempers rage, and Cora begins an adventure she never expected.

Echo is one smoking hot reaper, with sexy hair, a flair for the dramatic and a soul-mate kind of love for Cora. He had been alone for most of his very long life, fighting with everyone and reaping souls, until Cora came into his life. He is over-protective of Cora and will battle anyone in the nine realms to keep her safe. He also drives her crazy sometimes.

In Goddess, Cora’s world starts to crumble, threatening to destroy the most important thing in her life: her relationship with Echo. Cora traverses lies, misconceptions and hidden truths to discover her destiny.

Goddess is full of adventure and suspense that draws the reader into the story to feel everything the characters are experiencing. The characters in this series are incredible and so very well developed. They each have very distinct and unique personalities that make you want to be friends with them.

This book was awesome from start to finish. I didn’t want it to end. Much like all of Ednah’s book. She leaves me wanting MORE. I am looking forward the next Runes book. This book and series shouldn’t be missed.

Goddess A Runes Book eBook Ednah Walters Kelly Hashway Reviews

Now on book 7, and I still devour each book as soon as Walters releases it! Much to mythology-nerd excitement, this book delves a lot more deeply into the magic and lore surrounding all the aspects of the realms, myths, and gods and goddesses (as the title infers) of the Norse world. The YA characters I've grown to care for and almost 'know' like a friend continue to grow and interweave in Goddess, with a focus in this book on Cora's internal struggles due to further paranormal revelations that again unsettle the sense of self she's just grown comfortable with, and challenge who her 'family' is (including her friends and fiance Echo). My only reason for not giving this one 5 stars like the last ones, is that for me it was a bit slow and the 'drama' that I thought would culminate in an epic climax--which wasn't even exactly Cora's conflict at all--ended up being a bit glossed over with a quick side story (though it brought in some needed action!) overshadowing the resolution. Worth pulling through that if you're a romantic, though! Overall, I enjoyed reading it as this book explains a lot of mystery from Cora's past and builds excitement for the next installment!
Once again, we enter the "Runes" world, watching from Cora's perspective this time. The book is told in the first person, so we meet characters and discover plotlines as Cora experiences them. Ednah expertly weaves the tale in with the other Runes novels, as Cora meets other characters that we've already met in Eirik's or Raine's stories. One of the things I love about this series is the way the storylines overlap, and how we get to see what one character is doing and how that connects with things that have happened in the other books. Her world involves Norse mythology, and immortals who use runes to access supernatural abilities. In this book, Cora discovers her true history, and journeys to Helheim to interact with the characters who live there. It's also filled with romance, and that feeling of destiny when you know you've found your soulmate. The characters are well developed and lovable. The pace is moderate - there's not a lot of exposition as events unfold, but this isn't a story of epic battles and adventure either, it's mostly about self-discovery and personal interactions.
This is the final book of the Cora/Echo storyline. This story is told after the Eirik story arc. So we're talking book 10. The interesting thing about this book is we're taken back from the new adult themes of the first two books and this is toned down quite a bit. But the reasoning makes sense when you get to it. (I won't spoil it for you, just read the book and if more descriptive sex is required then, I guess you miss out. P) Regardless, this reminds me in a way of Eirik's first book. Less a love story between Cora and Echo and more a story of love. Which seems odd for a story arc ending, but really we knew long before now that Cora and Echo forever and ever and they've been shipped and everything. So, do we really need a rehashing of that? No. Not really. What this book is about, is love in it's many facets and forms. This is the love of family, of siblings, of friends, of partners. Much like Eirik's first book this is a book DEDICATED to love and how fitting that it's release day is dedicated to love. This is also a book of sacrifice. Not in the sense that most people feel about it. But really. Sacrifice is the letting go and giving of yourself to another. And this is a running theme in this book. Cora's parents sacrificed for her through her whole life. Echo sacrifices for her and takes a step back because it's what she needs. Eirik, her best guy friend, makes sacrifices for her and for his mother. This might make it seem as though she's a selfish twit. No, Cora NEEDS these people during this story. And they love her, knowing how much she loves them, they're willing to give of themselves so she can be better and whole and happy. And that's the definition of love.

So yeah. I really liked this book.
